You’ve mentioned this in other discusions, but I’d love to know how common and successful this really is. What happens after the relationship begins, and she realizes he’s not really a jerk? Does serial monogamy ensue when boredom eventually follows? It doesn’t speak very highly for the preferences of some women. I’ve always advised my single lady friends not to overlook and dismiss guys who display kindness (not the same as bland “niceness”) in addition to other qualities.
Great article on the big N. I think Jean Twenge concluded that the rise in narcissism has gone hand in hand with increased individualism in most Western societies over the past few decades. Sometime during the 1990s, it seemed like culture became heavily youth-oriented. Certainly far more than the 1920s. At least the Lost Generation was reacting to all the massive social disruption post-WWI.
I believe the generation that came of age during the last 20 years has had access to more disposable income than any prior generation of young people by far. That can’t be understated. I’ve noticed a marked difference in the romantic/sexual behavior AND spending habits of people who are short-term vs. long-term focused. Excitement trumps patience. My sense is that true narcissists experience some serious burn-out starting in their late 30s. And I’m sure they blame other people for that : )

For me atleast, I’ve been focusing on lifestyle changes for exactly that reason. I want to land quality women on a consistent basis. Doing so will require being able to sell myself as a quality man while actually being a quality man. I’m not a narcissistic asshole – I’m a confident artist who will stand behind his words, every time.
